Event Overview

The Isla® HBCU Classic is an inaugural three-day event celebrating diversity and excellence in gymnastics and cheerleading. Organized by The Isla®  Foundation and Brown Girls Do Gymnastics, the event aims to foster inclusion and provide competitive opportunities for marginalized athletes.

Event Highlights

Isla Invitational: A competition for club gymnasts in all AAU Levels (ages 6-18)

Collegiate Competition: Featuring Fisk University and Wilberforce University, the only two HBCU women's gymnastics teams.

Cheerleading and Dance Exhibition: Featuring performances from various HBCU teams.

  • Friday, February 14, 2025: Step Show and Cheer and Dance Exhibition 

  • Saturday, February 15, 2025: Gymnastics Club and Collegiate Meets 

  • Sunday, February 16, 2025: Alumni Breakfast (separate ticket)

The HBCU Gymnastics Contenders

  • Fisk University: Launched the first HBCU Intercollegiate Women's Artistic Gymnastics Team in 2022, achieving national recognition with gymnast Morgan Price winning the USAG Collegiate National Championship in 2024.

  • Wilberforce University: Set to debut its gymnastics team in January 2026, Wilberforce took up the helm for the gymnasts who were displaced after Talladega College concluded their gymnastics program and began their team a year early. Continuing the legacy of diversity and inclusion in collegiate gymnastics, Wilberforce is ready to make a name for itself

  • Greenville University Gymnastics Team: Greenville is excited to join us in support of diversity in gymnastics and also continue on their journey to USAG Nationals. Greenville's attendance also fulfills the USAG National qualifying requirements.
